8-Point Custom Display Checklist

Over the past 25 years, Eurocoin has developed hundreds of customized solutions for our customers. We have compiled all this knowledge into a simple checklist so you can determine whether a customized solution would be suitable for your requirements.

Topics

  • Quantity
  • Display Specifications
  • Touch Specifications
  • Interface
  • High-level Functions
  • Configuration Settings
  • Packaging and Labels
  • After-sales Support

1. Quantity:

For customized metalwork and touch screens (if an existing touch foil can be used), the minimum order quantity is 100 units. If you require a bespoke touch screen foil, the minimum order volume increases to 300.

2. Display specifications:

Selecting an industrial-grade, standard format can prevent numerous problems in the future. Industrial-grade displays offer better quality, durability, and longevity. Alternatively, standard-grade displays, being more widely available from multiple suppliers, provide a competitive pricing range.

3. Touch specifications:

With numerous options available, start by considering the operating environment. Indoor touch screens may not perform optimally when used outdoors. Factors to consider include glass thickness, options for colored borders, and edge finishes. While most touch screens support multi-touch, many applications may not require this feature, and reducing to one or two touches can enhance overall performance.

4. Interface:

Commonly used interface types include VGA, DVI, and DisplayPort. Over-specification of additional options, such as HDMI, may increase costs. Check with your supplier that you have the best I/O for your requirements.

5. High-level functions:

Popular functions like screen inversion via the AD board chipset can be a great addition but they come at a cost. Getting features like this and not using them will add cost. If you don’t need it don’t buy it.

6. Configuration settings:

Preferences for RGB, brightness, and contrast settings can be preset during manufacturing to provide an out-of-the-box solution tailored to your needs.

7.  Packaging and labels:

Consider packaging options to minimize waste and streamline shipping processes. Custom-made labels can feature your branding and product information.

8. After-sales support:

Considering the total cost of ownership is crucial. Opting for a low upfront cost may seem appealing, but consider factors such as warranty repairs and logistics, which can significantly impact overall costs over time.
